Yesterday at the elementary school was just like any other day. The children were really well behaved.  They were really happy to see me. That’s because I wasn’t there for two weeks. I missed them so much. So, while i was sitting  supervising them while they ate lunch I was talking to Mrs. Creloe. I realized that this week is one of my last weeks. Next week will be my last week.  Then I will have to go to a higher grade. And I know that is going to be so upsretiing fore me next week when it is my last day.

Thanksgiving feast

We had to go to the elementary school yesterday instead of Thursday, because Mrs.Jarell wasn’t going to be here today. When I got to the elementary school, all the students were watching a Charley Brown Thanksgiving movie. I was surprised because usually at this time they would be getting ready for lunch. Mrs. Crayola then informed me that the class is going to have a thanksgiving feast. She them told me to please go across the hall and help set up. I didn’t want to leave the children but I did as she said. When I got into the room I was astonished at all the food. There were a few of the children’s parents there and they were putting the plates and cups where they belong. I helped serve the food. I noticed a few of the parents some of them were friends of my mom. After that the children were welcomed into the room and were seated. The teachers including me where welcomed to eat.  By time it was done, it was my time to leave. I didn’t want to leave. This visit the children were really well behaved. Maybe that was because their parents were in the room. It was a great visit. I can’t wait until next Thursday.

7 hour day.

Oh, gosh yesterday I went a full day instead of just an hour like every other Wednesday. Working with those children was a lot of work. It showed me how much time and work goes into being a teacher. When I got into the class I had to sit with the children for carpet time.  And the teacher read a book and told the class what she will be doing with them today. It just so happen to be the day they were making turkeys with their hand and finger paint.  It was such a joy to hear the children squirm and laugh while doing arts and crafts. After that we went to lunch, and had recess. I noticed that during recess the child told on each other a lot.  But put that aside everything was ok. After lunch they had a two hour nap. And by time they woke up it was my time to leave. I really didn’t want to leave

Halloween with Pre K

Thursday, when I went to the elementary school,  it just so happened to be the morning of Halloween. When I entered the classroom I saw a table full of cupcakes, goody bags, and other Halloween treats. Those children where whirred they were off the wall hyper. They couldn’t even sit down to eat lunch without things going haywire. But I was amazed on how adorable they were, they had their little costumes on and they were anxious about the night ahead of them. I had also every kid in the class come up to me and tell me about how they are going to get a lot of candy when they go trick or treating after lunch there we let them t\run around in the gym, I  noticed they liked to play “red light green light” and “duck  duck goose”  I can defiantly say that this was a hectic and exhausted visit.

changing my mind about Pre K

Yesterday was an awesome day of field experience.  I love being with Pre K. They have their own little way of making me smile. But I must say It was kind of over whelming, I  really thought I would love working with pre k . I didn’t consider how much work it was, for just one person. I think I might like 2nd grade where there isn’t so many behavioral issues. My teacher couldn’t even sit down and each lunch without a child throwing food or hitting another student. Also another thing I observed is that you need a lot of energy to be a teacher for that grade level. I only go an hour once a week and it drains my energy. But I honestly cannot wait to go back, there just so much fun. I guess I’m just on the fence on how I feel about such a young age group.

the Second week

Yesterday October 17, 2013 I again visited the Elementary School. I got assigned a new teacher because the teacher from last Wednesday didn’t have a class during the time I went. My new permant class until January is Mrs. Crayola’s class. She teachers Pre K. I was so excited to help with such an adorable group of children. When i first got there and saw them I fell in love. One of the children there I babysit and she was just so overjoyed to see me. The thing i learned while there though was you have to have a lot of energy to run after a group of three and four year olds. And that was just one hour of being there. I give a lot of credit to the teachers who have to work with them on day to day baisis.  There were two children in the class that were twins and they were really misbehaved they at one point they had to separate them because it was like they feed of off each other’s actions. But put all that aside I can’t wait to go back there next Thursday !!!!!

Yesterday, October 3, 2013 was my first day of Field Work. I attended one of the lower elementary schools. Mrs. Seal was the name of the teacher I was assigned to. This just so happen to be her third year teaching, of those 3 years she has only taught third grade. When I arrived at the lower Elementary School, I met her, she informed me that this is her panning period so we sat in the teacher lounge. We discussed things she thinks I should know before becoming a third grade teacher. She informed me her class consisted of 26 students, and also that third grade is a hard year for students. It’s the first year of Standardized testing and they have so many objectives to meet for the school year. There is a lot of pressure for such a young group of students. She said you just have to keep them interested, and reward them for the things they learn (such as multiplication tables). Also the transition from 2nd grade to third grade is difficult, and she often has behavioral problems. But all problems aside she said it is very rewarding and she loves her job. I can not wait until next Thursday when I can work with the children.
